Also known as Chicano style motorcycles, as some shops call it, is part of the many different categories of motorcycle styles. Roy Suarez Garcia (1945-2003) AKA “Chicano Roy” was an American motorcycle builder and inventor. Chicano Roy was the first Hispanic motorcycle chopper builder to conquer the custom motorcycle magazine world. Chicano Roy was the first to invent items, including, but not limited to, the “Molded Frame”, which is a motorcycle frame that has the gas tank and frame molded together to look as one, to give body to the entire skeleton frame; however, the gas tank actually un-bolted just in case the gas tank was damaged in an accident. We can all be thankful for Roy shining light on the Chicano style motorcycle culture and kicking it off to where it is today.

 

But so much has changed since Roy helped with the origination of the Chicano style motorcycle. Now they generally depict low riding two wheelers, and we throw a Chicano twist on it with the top body parts and extravagant color combinations. But let’s not forget that black is still beautiful and a lot of cholo style Harleys roll with the vivid black Harley color. But that’s not all! Most ride on multi spoke wheels, large size wheels like 21 or 23 inch. But you rarely get to see the entire wheel style as the upper sides are covered and very large fenders which give the cholo style motorcycle a very distinctive look.

You know that Chicano style motorcycles must be loud which would explain the very long exhaust pipes, that extend will be on the tip of the rear fender and ends in a fishtail style. The engine of the ride isn’t changed very much but it must shine which would explain all the chrome trimmings. The suspension now rides on an air ride suspension system to give it that lowrider feel.
